Adult Football

Sporting 87 Football Club has three adult teams playing in the Macron Suffolk And Ipswich League (SIL). The First Team play in the senior division and are run by Sporting 87's Director of Football, Jonathan Warnock, and his assistant, Neil Van Holland. Both are UEFA B licensed coaches. The team won promotion to the senior league for the first time in their history by winning division 1 in the 2021/22 season. Both the Reserves and the A Team play in division 2 and division 4 respectively.

All home games are played at the Victory Sports Ground in Bury St Edmunds, a great facility offering a bar and refreshments where the whole club can enjoy matches on a Saturday.

Sporting 87 also have a great reputation for giving young players plenty of opportunities in the adult teams. Of the current First Team squad, 8 players played for a youth team at Sporting 87 before making the step into adult football.

There are also many more Reserve and A Team players who have come through the youth teams at Sporting 87.

Away from the competitive football on a Saturday, Sporting 87 also offers many opportunities to play football to keep fit or have fun. There is social football each week and walking football too. Sporting 87 also has a very active Ladies football team that trains regularly and plays matches against other local teams.

The atmosphere around the club is unique to non-league football, players from across all three teams get on well and are close on and off the pitch. I was immediately overwhelmed by the welcome I received from the other lads and the coaching team when I first joined at the age of 18. There's something special about this club and I love spending my Saturday afternoons in this way.”
